The Newport 12 Meter is also referred to as the "West Coast 12 Meter". The hull is modeled after a full size 12 meter, arguably the most competitive class to ever compete for the America's cup. The Newport 12 is a large boat, 72" in length and 40 lbs. in weight, that rewards its skipper with a "real boat" feel while sailing.

I am new to rc sailing but I have been modeling for over 20 years. In my ever-so-increasingly-insane ebay searches I found a kit for a Newport 12 Meter Pond Racer. This will be my first RC sailboat. I like this model for several reasons. It is BIG! It has a fiberglass hull. It is an absolutely gorgeous model! I have never seen one before.

The Wife's is hull#375 and mine is #11. We have had many AMYA class boats over the years (here in New Jersey) with 50/800 Marbleheads, 36/600, Original One Meters, V32s, East Coast 12 Meters, but the only boats we kept are the two Newports. These boats can handle just about ANY water, wind conditions we have experienced to date.
